Hypertension alters the qualitative parameters defining and limiting the quality of life in the inhabitants of Northern regions exposed to homeostatic stress. Gender differences are manifest as a significant deterioration of the physical component of the quality of life in women with arterial hypertension and a limitation of role functioning in men.
