O ensaio propõe debater os problemas relativos aos impasses estruturais da formação da sociedade brasileira, tentando refletir a ideologia do atraso como um modelo básico de explicação das contingências das ausências do presente e do seu encontro com o futuro prometido. Retoma a simbiose entre o moderno e o arcaico para tentar explicar as conexões entre economia e política à guisa das formas de dominação instituídas desde o regime da Colônia ao Império à República.PROBLEMS IN PARADISE: phenomenology of delay and the “Brazilian feeling of the world”Abstract The essay proposes to debate the problems related to the structural impasses in the formation of Brazilian society, trying to reflect the ideology of backwardness as a basic model for explaining the contingencies of the absence of the present and its encounter with the promised future. It retakes the symbiosis between the modern and the archaic to try to explain the connections between economy and politics in the guise of the forms of domination instituted from the Colony regime to the Empire to the Republic.Keywords: Problems in Paradise.
