The implementation of "excellence plan" promotes our country to become a powerful country in engineering education and promotes higher education to cultivate a large number of high-quality engineering, technical personnel with strong innovation ability and adapt to the needs of economic and social development, however the traditional teaching methods no longer meet the needs of training high-quality engineers. This article will research study and discipline teaching organically fuses in together. Firstly the teachers should improve their academic and teaching ability, and accumulate enterprise engineering practice experience, reform the teaching methods, in order to cause the students to independently discover problems, explore the problem and get conclusion under teacher's guidance, cultivating their engineering practice ability and innovation ability. The exploration of teaching reform has been carried out through the course "Operation and Maintenance of Overhead Transmission Lines", which has achieved good results and will be continuously improved.
