In articles the statistics of malfunctions of gear wheels and cogwheels of traction tooth gearings of arolling stock is analysed. It is found out that their majority in operation is rejected because of achievement oflimit wear of teeths on a chord of a delitelny circle. The errors of gear gearing caused by wear of teeths ofgear wheels and cogwheels, uneven demolition of their profiles, lead to change of characteristics of gearingin comparison with a new tooth gearing that negatively influences operation of all wheel and motor blockand, in particular, the traction electric motor. Need of carrying out researches of features of wear of tractiontooth gearings for operation is proved. Results of research with allocation of the main groups of gear wheelsand cogwheels depending on wear on a chord of a delitelny circle are presented. Examples of pictures ofteeths of gear wheels and cogwheels of the relevant groups are given.
