The results of studies designed to determine the characteristics of the design and operation of powerplants camshafts, which is equipped with the vast majority of diesel locomotives operating Ukrzaliznytsipark. Significant impact on the quality of workflow processes render cylinder gas exchange flow whichprovide appropriate design mechanisms for timing. Underlying these mechanisms a suitable camshafts. Mostpower plants camshafts manage traffic intake and exhaust valves and the fuel pump pressure according tothe order of the cylinders. The resulting generation circuit loads on structural elements of camshafts powerplants, allowed to determine the levels of mechanical stress in the valve operating mechanisms and loadbearing cervical camshafts. The level of mechanical tension in the valve drive mechanism, the load on thebearing neck RVs determined by current value of the total force. The analysis results demonstrate thefeasibility of the research and development work aimed at improving the camshafts and timing mechanismsin general.
