A significant impact on the dissolution of cars on the hump has their design. Traditional scientific approaches to the selection of design solutions design hump directed mainly to the increase in their processing capabilities. When choosing a design hump should be considered an integrated approach, taking into account various parameters. The article describes the method of comprehensive evaluation design marshalling yards using an additive function, which allows for reduced costs for construction and operation of a sorting device, as well as indicators of the reliability of its use. Hump is considered as a technicalsystem, which is characterized by a variety of different parameters. The weighting factors are using theexpert estimates. This method allows to determine an effective option retrofitting existing brake positionsmarshalling yards in the implementation of complex tasks Ukrzaliznytsi to ensure the reliability of sorting process.
