Analysis of uncoupling of wagons in repairs shows, that over 40% of them fall at derangement ofrunning gear and autocoupling equipment. In operation automatic couplers have significant dynamic loads acting on different planes, largetemperature differences. Also, on their operation affects the vulnerability of the mating parts from fallinginto the zone of friction of the abrasive particles. In this article describes the nature of the damage the basic details of autocoupler and ways to restoreworking capacity of their working surfaces. To restore working capacity of automatic coupler in all types ofrepair used of methods surfacing worn surfaces and welding of cracks.Found that in order to prevent the development of dangerous trend of wear work surfacesautocoupler, must pay special attention to improve the strength properties of steels by changing theirchemical composition, improve heat treatment methods, innovative approaches in recovery of chafe, methodsof surfacing and welding
