In the article, based on the analysis of judicial practice, in order to improve the efficiency of the investigation of the theft of non-cash and electronic money, an algorithm is proposed for the actions of investigators who check messages on the category of crimes under study. Dividing all thefts committed by using remote banking services into contact and contactless, the authors come to the conclusion that the actions of investigators at the stage of initiating a criminal case differ depending on the specific type of theft.
