The article covers the fundamentals of the legal status of the magistrates of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria. The author focuses on the relevant statutory instruments, contemplates constitutional framework of the magistrates’ legal status, their rights and responsibilities. Based on the outcome of the study performed therein, a conclusion is derived that the country has so far implemented a considerably advanced regulatory framework of the legal status of magistrates with an obvious influence of the West European, and particularly French model.
