The initial thesis of the research presented in this article is the statement about the significance of the Slavic pagan mentality, elements of the pagan worldview and folk demonology in the poetics of Guzel Yakhina's novel “Zuleikha Opens Her Eyes”. The analysis reveals the levels of poetics specifying the elements of the pagan code, presenting their content and determining their artistic role. In the course of the analysis, the levels of poetics were revealed, at which elements of the pagan code were found, their content was presented, and the artistic role was determined. The largest number of pagan conversions, according to our observations, is found in the first part and the first section of the second part of the novel, in which the usual life of the heroine is presented. The most important mythologemes of the novel are “river” and “forest”. To characterize the heroes, the author uses natural images, in particular zoonyms. The most representative in this respect is the image of Grunya, whose physical and physiological characteristics are described by establishing connections with a bear and a horse. In the poetics of Guzel Yakhina's novel, the degree of significance of the pagan worldview is high: the elements of the pagan code have a wide variety of artistic functions at the levels of the character system, plot construction, ideological and thematic originality, pictorial and expressive means.
