The article discusses issues related to the features of the legal protection of the appearance and image of a citizen. The question of the correlation of these concepts is analyzed, ways and means of protecting such personal non-property rights are considered. Some international legal acts in the field of protection of the external image and image of a citizen are considered. At the same time, it was noted that at the international level, the appearance and image are protected within the framework of the right to privacy. The absence of standards in the monetary assessment of the harm caused by the unlawful disclosure and / or use of images of citizens was determined. The authors concluded that there is no regulation of legal relations in the field of the use of images of citizens in certain special laws. It is also concluded that the concepts of appearance and image of a citizen are correlated as gender and species.
