The ‘Word of the Year’ campaign acts as a kind of indicator of social and political changes in a particular country or in the world, the changes that have occurred in a particular year. ‘Words of the Year’ can be neologisms, new meanings of ‘old’ words, phrases, phraseological units, lexical units that have had a great influence on the national linguocultural picture of the world.
