The issue of budget security of municipalities in the Russian Federation remains relevant today due to the unstable economic situation. This topic is particularly acute in the context of a shortage of resources and problems in the social sphere of individual subjects of the country. The indicator of the level of provision of municipal budgets is the basis of the mechanism of budget regulation in our state and acts as one of the main criteria for characterizing the socio-economic development of regions. This article will consider the problems of municipalities that can have an impact on their budget security, as well as options for optimizing it in order to increase the prospects for their further development.
