Digital social networks are virtual environments that facilitate the distance communication process, but they are spaces that can harm the user’s quality of life. This way, this article presents part of the results of the research The family and the management of the use of digital social networks of students of integrated technical courses at the Federal Institute of Paraíba – Campus Campina Grande, approved by the IFPB Interconnect Program. The study is a field research, of exploratory, qualitative and quantitative and cross-sectional nature, which aims to investigate whether parents/guardians need help to manage the use of their child’s social networks and how IFPB – Campus Campina Grande could help them with the subject. Results indicated that most parents thought that they did not need help to manage the use of their children’s social networks. They also consider themselves capable of looking for help on the use of social networks. The results of this research suggest that IFPB – Campus Campina Grande should provide parents/guardians with training on the management of social networks, warning them about the dangers of social networks and making suggestions to avoid the risks of using them.
