In August 2021, Belarus declared its interest in arming itself with S-400 air defense systems. In September, commenting on agreements to supply combat aviation and air defense systems from Russia, President Aliaksandr Lukashenka emphasized that the S-400s are "very necessary" for the Republic. What tasks the Russian missile systems will allow the Belarusian army to perform, S-400's unique characteristics, and prospects for the establishment of the Union Ministry of Defense of Belarus and Russia were assessed by Deputy Chairman of the Commission on International Affairs and National Security of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Andrei Rusakovich in his interview to Eurasia.Expert.
