<b>Down Syndrome X Mothering: the Impact of the Diagnostics in the Mother-Baby Relationship</b>

This article analyses the impact of the Down Syndrome diagnostic in the mothering process. Mothering is understood as the first affectional bond between mother and child, the desire and the availability as well as, the quality care destined for child. The study was carried out through bibliographic and field research interviewing 5 mothers of 3 years old children with down syndrome in Goiânia-GO. It was observed that to receive the Down Syndrome diagnostic influence the mothering process, since it offers the mother derivative fellings by the confrontation of the diagnostic, as well as required a mother rearrange psychically yourself and her habits for to adapt to the children's needs. Taking into consideration, the fact mentioned above it’s possible to conclude in this research the importance the process of mothering under the influence of Down Syndrome diagnostics.Síndrome de Down X Maternagem: Impacto do Diagnóstico na Relação Mãe-BebêO presente artigo analisou os impactos do diagnóstico de Síndrome de Down no processo de maternagem. Entende-se por maternagem, os primeiros laços afetivos entre mãe e filho, o desejo e a disponibilidade bem como, a qualidade dos cuidados destinados à criança. O estudo se deu através de pesquisa bibliográfica e de campo e entrevistou-se 5 mães de crianças de até 3 anos com Síndrome de Down, na cidade de Goiânia - GO. Observou-se que receber o diagnóstico de Síndrome de Down influencia o processo de maternagem, pois, causa na mãe sentimentos viabilizados pelo defrontamento da diagnose, bem como exige que a mãe se reorganize psiquicamente e seus hábitos de vida para adaptar-se as necessidades da criança. Considerando tais fatores, conclui-se nesta pesquisa a importância de ressaltar o processo de maternagem sob a influência do diagnóstico de Síndrome de Down.
