La mise en regard de trois ouvrages traitant de la vie de Gabrielle Roy permet de distinguer diverses modalités de l’instauration d’un ethos biographique. Procédant d’un même matériau biographique, l’autofiction de Gabrielle Roy (La détresse et l’enchantement), la somme biographique de François Ricard (Gabrielle Roy. Une vie) et le récit biographique d’André Vanasse (Gabrielle Roy. Écrire, une vocation) proposent des figures de biographes distinctes selon que l’enjeu qui les détermine relève de la création littéraire, d’une visée historienne ou de considérations institutionnelles.AbstractThe comparison of three works dealing with the life of the writer Gabrielle Roy allows to distinguish various modalities of a biographic ethos. Proceeding from the same biographical material, the autobiography of Gabrielle Roy (La détresse et l’enchantement), the biographical opus of François Ricard (Gabrielle Roy. Une vie) and the biographical fiction of André Vanasse (Gabrielle Roy. Écrire, une vocation) propose different “figures” of the biographer depending on whether their purpose is literary, historical or institutional.
