The article analyzes the results of a survey of the population in the framework of identifying the needs (motivation) for sports. A comparison of the commercial and budgetary spheres allows us to analyze the qualitative characteristics of the current system and current problems, as well as on the basis of these results, we can make recommendations that will allow us to effectively adapt the current system to modern conditions and, thereby, improve the quality of life of the population. The object of the study is public opinion in the field of needs (motivation) for physical education and sports. The subject of the study is the social environment in terms of conditions for physical education and sports.
