the article deals with an important question: does everyday intergenerational mutual assistance in the family disappear as a “cultural code” and social value? Analyzing the sociological materials, the author shows that in relation to helping their parents (grandparents) or children in everyday life, the main difference between age groups is not in whether help is provided, but in what kind of help it is and how often it is provided. In practical terms, the most relevant is external assistance to families in improving their material capabilities, solving financial and economic problems. In General, it is important to support (and develop) the values of the family and the family way of life with the natural mutual assistance of generations. A full-fledged and healthy family is able to solve the main issues of intergenerational mutual assistance in their daily life. However, even in this case, as a kind of Supplement and partial replenishment of family resources, it is advisable (sometimes necessary) to help the family itself, depending on its specific problems. The system of social work and social services can also be developed in this direction
