Desde a independência do Brasil até o início do século XX Portugal não teve verdadeiramente colônias. Este artigo pretende analisar algumas das respostas formuladas por escritores para esta situação, e discutir o papel de Teixeira de Pascoaes nesse contexto. From the independence of Brazil to the beginning of the twentieth century Portugal had to live without a real colony. This essay intends to analyze some answers constructed by Portuguese writers to this situation, and discuss the importance of Teixeira de Pascoaes in this context.
