O SEBASTIANISMO EM PORTUGAL E O MESSIANISMO NO BRASIL

O artigo faz um breve histórico do sebastianismo em Portugal, para depois avaliar as versões do mito sebástico, centrandose na obra de Plínio Salgado. A presença do mito na literatura brasileira é localizada nas seguintes obras: no Dicionário de Folclore Brasileiro , de Câmara Cascudo, no romance O Esperado e mais claramente no romance histórico A Voz do Oeste , texto em que o sebastianismo se torna também um mito fundador do Brasil. The article synthetizes a brief history of sebastianism in Portugal, and then analises the versions of “sebastic myth”, based on Plínio Salgado’s works. The presence of this myth in brazilian literature is confirmed by the following works: The Folcloric Dictionary of Brazil , from Câmara Cascudo, a romance entitled O Esperado, and the historic fiction entitled A Voz do Oeste , a forgotten text where the Sebastianism turns into a foundation myth of Brazil.
