The projection systems that connect the cortex of the various parts of the hemispheres with the pons have a known position in the pes pedunculi. Based on the data obtained by various methods (the Flexig method, the method of secondary rebirths), schemes for the structure of this part of the nervous system were developed. The most famous schemes are Obersteiner'a, Edinger'a, Bechterev and Dejerine'a.
