The author made, for a more or less long time, an examination of the urine for sugar in 194 alcoholics. He divided all his patients into 3 groups; he attributed 99 cases of delirium potatorium to the first; to the 2nd26 cases of delirium pototorium abortivum, in which delusional phenomena were expressed to a slight degree, and finally to the 3rd69 cases of alcoholismus chronicus without delirium. The presence of sugar in the urine was noted in 30% of cases of the 1st group - delirium potatorium, in 14% - of delirium potatorium obortivum and in 30.4% of cases of the 3rd group - alcoholi'smus chronicus. Analyzing the data obtained by him, the author notes that in alcoholic delirium, glucosuria is not always post delirious (postdelirise Glykosurie), as Vaitapp claims. So, in 2/3 of patients belonging to the 1st group, the presence of sugar was detected some time before the onset of the crisis. The amount of sugar fluctuated between 0.2% and 0.4%, only in 4 cases was more than 0.5%.
