The functional state of the kidneys and upper urinary tract often determines the type and nature of surgical treatment for bladder cancer. One of the tests for renal dysfunction is the determination of the low molecular weight protein 2-microglobulin in the blood and urine. Protein concentrations in the blood and urine are altered in a number of inflammatory, autoimmune, infectious, and oncological diseases.
