The author uses, in order to limit mucus secretion in the inflamed nasopharyngeal space, drops of the following composition: Rp. collargoli, protargoli aa 0.1, aq. dest. ad 10.0; in addition, in the morning and evening the pharynx is smeared with 2-5% silver nitrate solution or, in adults, with Mandel's iodine solution against coughing irritation.
