The author cites a case of an ink pencil injury to the index finger of the left hand of a 27-year-old clerical worker. The finger swelled up, resulting in fever and headache. After cutting out the injured area with removal of the broken tip of the pencil, the wound became necrotic, cleared within 6 weeks, and only healed after 8 weeks.
