Meeting 28/III.Drs. Z. I. Malkin and N. K. Sokolova: Diagnostic value of determination of proteolytic enzymes in blood for cancer recognition. Normal human serum has no ability to break down human fibrin. In patients with neoplasms a proteolytic enzyme appears in the blood which can detect its effect on normal human fibrin. The method is based on determining the amount of protein-free nitrogen formed under the influence of the enzyme. The authors, on the basis of their observations (50 slides), refraining from definitive conclusions, believe that the development of this issue deserves attention for the purpose of cancer diagnostics.
