According to the last census, there are about 235,000 blind people in our country, of which 21% (50,000) developed blindness on the basis of trachoma. Blindness results from the complication of trachoma with pannus, i.e., from chronic inflammation of the corneal tissue, which is granular in nature with the formation of blood vessels.
