Inflammatory tumors of the omentum have been described for a long time. The first case was described by Mtiller in 1874, then Gayant, Braun collected 33 cases in his monograph, Zesas 44 cases, Prutz by 1913 collected 46 cases from the literature, and Vigyazo by 1926 100 cases. Haller cites 372 cases of epiploites in 1,453 operations at the Walter Clinic.
