Although multiple myelomatosis was described by O. A. Rustitsky back in 1873, and the clinical picture was supplemented by Kaler in 1887, there is still no single idea of its nature. A. I. Abrikosov, A. F. Korovnikov, A. N. Kryukov, M. I. Arinkin, G. A. Alekseev, I. A. Kassirsky believe that myelomatosis is a systemic disease of hematopoietic tissue, such as leukemia, in which hyperplasia of myelomatous elements is accompanied by the appearance of heterotopic foci in the bones and internal organs. SA Reinberg, AA Opokin and others attribute myelomatosis to malignant neoplasms with a tendency to hematogenous metastases. A. I. Strukov included him in the group of "tumor-like reticulosis".
