The book, written by two authors - botanist and zoologist docent A.N. Smetanin and doctor of medical sciences prof. V.F. Bogoyavlensky, is certainly a non-standard work: it differs significantly from usual books, devoted to flora or fauna of different regions. On the one hand, this is really a botanical work concerning the flora of the Kamchatka Peninsula and adjacent areas, and on the other hand, it is a kind of encyclopedic reference book, which contains interesting information about useful plants as food, medicinal, technical resources.
