As you know, foreign bodies of the esophagus, if not timely recognized and removed, can lead to life-threatening complications. If the best method of removal is esophagoscopy, then its production for diagnostic purposes in case of suspicion of foreign bodies of the esophagus instead of X-ray examination is impractical.
