Rebbegt (Deut, med. Woch., 1921, No. 51) notes the importance of blood tests for the diagnosis of incipient typhoid fever: on the basis of egg experience, this author was convinced that the disappearance of eosinophils soon after the onset of fever and a drop in the number of leukocytes to 2000 are characteristic features of this disease.
