The existence in rabbits of a disease caused by a spirochete similar to spirocheta pallida, in which changes localized on genitalia approximate those of infection of rabbits with human syphilis, was first noticed in England by Ross and Vauon. Arzt and Kerl in Austria, Klarenbeck in Holland have encountered similar diseases since 1914
