After sustained penetrating wounds of the cornea and corneoscleral region, cilia are sometimes found in the anterior chamber of the eye that were not found and removed during the primary surgical treatment of the wound. They are usually extracted with forceps through a limbal incision with a conjunctival flap. The technique of this operation is complicated, because it is necessary to manipulate under the conditions of the emptied anterior chamber of the eye; in addition, the cilia may be lost in the iris stroma. An operating microscope and micro instrumentation are required for the operation.
