Proff. Krainz and Lang believe that subjective complaints of patients are least important for the recognition of chronic tonsillitis. Objective signs of chronic tonsillitis are sensitivity to pressure on the lacunae of the tonsils and hardening of the amygdala base, which is detectable when palpating from the outside.
