Douglas Ayres argues that early production of venesection not only protects against threatening attacks of eclampsia, especially in more or less obese individuals, but also favors complete healing and in any case prepares an excellent ground for further therapeutic measures. The method of treatment with venesections gave the author a much lower mortality rate than any other method.
