The article is devoted to the State Higher Medical School, opened in March 1919 in the Moscow Military Hospital, which was due to the need of the new Soviet state for highly educated medical personnel. The Higher Medical School was a kind of continuation of the traditions of training medical personnel at the Moscow Hospital after the medical-surgical school and the Moscow Medical-Surgical Academy.
