On the basis of almost constant ratio between duration of consecutive geological epoch, which is approximately equal to two, and on the basis of assumptions that change of a level of development of the organic world on the Earth for each epoch is the same, the author makes a conclusion that speed of development of organic matter on the Earth for the last two billion years can be described with indicative (or exponential curve) dependence. This exponent can be used for the description of not only geological epochs, but also for shorter time intervals, in particular, for dividing of Quaternary into stone, bronze and iron periods.
