It was shown that dopamine via D1-receptors mediates the influence of melatonin on hypothalamic-adrenal axis in the evening and in the day, but it isn't in the morning and at night. In addition dopamine via D1-receptors mediates the influence of melatonin on circadian system (suprachiasmatic nucleus and pineal gland) in bird in the evening.
