The article deals with the challenges of the modern city: spatial segregation, growing society informatization, economic decrease, marginalization of previous urban governing structures, growing influence of business interests in cities. The complexity of socioeconomic urban structure including the problems of historical city core development demand an interdisciplinary approach to planning urban strategies.
