A comprehensive sociological analysis of the population of the Tambov region as an actor in the regional field of the digital economy is presented. The methodology and classification developed on the basis of P. Bourdieu's theory of social space are used as a reference option. The method of questionnaire survey was used to determine the competence of the population in the processes of digital transformation of the modern world, to identify the attitude of the population to the widespread introduction and active development of digitalization, to study the indices of digital literacy of the population.It is shown that the reference version of the attitude of the population to the digitalization process differs from the current one. The processing of the results, their analysis and comparison were carried out using the SPSS program (statistical tables and contingency tables).
