The article provides an overview of some of the controversial issues faced by a group of lexicographers working on the compilation of the Axiological Dictionary of Russian, Belarusian and Ukrainian proverbs. We are talking, in particular, about the necessity and validity of including in the dictionary entry not only full and partial equivalents, but also analogs and proverbs close in meaning.
