Multi-aspect problems of lexicographic description of modern nicknames of residents of the Perm region are identified: the volume, sources and methods of collecting nickname materials, the writing of nicknames, and the ethical aspect of their lexicography. The principles of description of nicknames, which are determined by them and accepted by the author in the projected dictionary, are specified.
