This paper deals with the stylistic status of univerb nominations in explanatory dictionaries. Words from such semantic groups as “buildings” (storozhka ‘gatehouse’, chitalka ‘reading room’, etc.), “cereals and porridge” (grechka ‘buckwheat’, manka ‘semolina’, etc.), “diseases” (chesotka ‘scabies’, gorjachka ‘fever’, etc.), “medicines” (zeljonka ‘brilliant green’, kastorka ‘castor oil’, etc.) and “items of clothing” (tolstovka ‘sweatshirt’, dubljonka ‘sheepskin coat’, etc.) are considered. Stylistic marks for these lexical units are compared in academic dictionaries starting with Ushakov Dictionary, and the processes evidenced by these marks are tracked.
