Three centuries had passed since the medical world had pinpointed cigarette smoking as a deadly health hazard. Study after study revealed that smoking cigarette is the cause of many terminal diseases and the major cause of millions of premature deaths annually, here and abroad. Today, the number of youth aged ten and below which were hooked into smoking consternated concerned organizations throughout the world and caused them to conduct rigorous campaigns against cigarette smoking. Considering a different perspective to contribute to cigarette smoking cessation campaign, this study explored the factors affecting smoking habits among 400 youths in Davao City. It employed the descriptive correlation research design wherein the descriptive status described the variables and respondents used. Specifically, it tried to find out the correlation between the various factors of smoking habit: awareness on bad effects, peer influence, psychological factors.
