Based on the analysis of legal monuments and published materials, the process of development of the forest legislation of the Russian Empire is shown. Particular attention is paid to the analysis of the legal norms of the Forest Statute of the Russian Empire (editions of 1842, 1857, 1876, 1893, 1905).
