A new species of Tigridia (Iridaceae) is described, on the basis of collections made in the sierra de Pachuca, State of Hidalgo. Tigridia martinezii belongs to the VanHouttei complex within the subgenus Hydrotaenia (Molseed, 1970) and seems to be closely related to T. molseediana Ravenna, known from the mountains of Oaxaca and Guatemala.
