The history of the Red Cross dates back to the 1800s, when Swiss businessman Henry Dunant’s book, written in the wake of the Battle of Solferino, brought unexpected success. With the creation of the Geneva Conventions, a new chapter in war first aid began, but the organization thus formed soon grew out of its initial motivation and began to engage in peacetime assistance, a work to which it still does significant work. In addition to presenting the topic, I conducted a survey in the form of an online questionnaire on the appearance of the Red Cross in the public consciousness.
