Following a short history of plague epidemics, the author describes the outbreaks of the plague in Transylvania and especially in Kolozsvár (now Cluj-Napoca, Romania). It is a historic fact the last great epidemic of this town was in 1738/39. About its events, János Boguslavski, one of the seniors of the Unitarian College of Kolozsvár made some important registrations into the school protocols. He registered all important events of the town between December 1737 and August 1739. His Latin notes are presented in Hungarian translation. It is worth mentioning that this plague is commemorated even in our days by a baroque column and an ornamental gate in the town.
